Game Introduction

The Hang, a unique musical instrument in the idiophone class, was crafted in Switzerland. This instrument is ingeniously constructed from two half-shells of deep-drawn, nitrided steel sheet, which are meticulously glued together at the rim. This construction leaves the inside hollow, resulting in a distinctive 'UFO shape'. The top side, known as the "Ding," features a central 'note' that is hammered into it, surrounded by seven or eight 'tone fields' also hammered into the surface. Conversely, the bottom side, called the "Gu," is a plain surface with a rolled hole at its center. Striking the rim of this hole produces a tuned note. The Hang is also commonly referred to as a handpan.

The Hang's design employs similar physical principles to those of the steelpan, but with modifications that allow it to function as a Helmholtz resonator. The development of the Hang stemmed from extensive research on the steelpan and various other instruments, culminating in its innovative design.
