Fallout 76 Ghoul Update Details

Fallout 76 Season 20 plunges players into the irradiated heart of Appalachia, offering the thrilling opportunity to become a Ghoul! This update, launched March 18th, introduces a wealth of ghoul-themed features, mechanics, and cosmetics, transforming your C.A.M.P. and gameplay experience.

Unleash Your Inner Ghoul

Fallout 76's latest update lets you embrace your inner ghoul through the "Ghoulification" process. Initiated by undertaking the "Leap of Faith" questline, this journey takes you to a new area within the Savage Divide, where you'll encounter unique characters aiding your transformation. Becoming a ghoul unlocks exclusive abilities – Glow and Feral – and grants access to 30 new, ghoul-specific Perks (Bethesda calls them "Gherks").

The Feral ability replaces hunger and thirst, offering stat boosts based on your Feral meter's percentage. However, depleting it to 0% unleashes extreme gameplay changes: a massive melee damage boost (+150%) comes at the cost of significant reductions to Endurance, Charisma, HP, AP, and accuracy.

The Glow ability lets you consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and, as the name suggests, causing you to glow! It also boosts maximum health, heals damage, and contributes to unlocking Ghoul-exclusive Perks. Choose from 28 Perks, including two new legendary ones. Note that Perks related to hunger, thirst, and chem resistance are unavailable to Ghouls.

A Ghoul's Life in Appalachia

Embracing your ghoul nature makes navigating the irradiated wasteland significantly easier, thanks to your new abilities and Perks. However, this transformation might strain relationships with certain factions, such as the Brotherhood of Steel, potentially leading to hostility and questline restrictions.

Fortunately, a new NPC, Jaye, offers disguises that help you bypass these restrictions. Should you tire of ghoul life, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen. This is a one-way trip; the "Leap of Faith" questline is unavailable for re-use. Instead, you can purchase Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.

Level 50 Character Boost and Patch Notes

Season 20 also includes a Level 50 Character Boost (1500 Atoms), providing a significant head start for new and veteran players. This boost unlocks access to Daily Ops, Public Events, and story content, accelerating your progress.

The patch incorporates numerous bug fixes and balance adjustments, including accessibility improvements, combat balancing, weapon damage changes, and more. Bethesda also reminds players of the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update scheduled for April 29th.

Since its initially rocky launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has undergone significant improvements.
