Battlefield 6 Engineers are Becoming In-Game Artists Instead of Capturing the Objective

by Jason May 23,2026

While the Support, Assault, and Recon classes in Battlefield 6 collaborate to secure victory, some Engineer enthusiasts have been spotted acting as in-game artists rather than capturing key objectives.

In the days following the release of EA and Battlefield Studios' highly anticipated sixth numbered installment, players have gathered to share cinematic moments reminiscent of action movies. With jets soaring overhead and tanks rolling through structures, it is the Engineer class that has discovered perhaps the most inventive use for their gadgets.

The repair tool has long been used to leave drawings for both friendly and enemy squads, but Battlefield 6 offers a fresh opportunity to revisit this cherished tradition. Designed primarily to repair or damage tanks, helicopters, and other armored vehicles, the Engineer gadget leaves burn marks wherever it is aimed. In skilled hands, however, it becomes an effective drawing pen, and players are eager to make use of this feature.

As teams move to capture or hold objectives, they may encounter artwork left by those who have found a more creative way to enjoy Battlefield 6. These creations range from simple sketches like the iconic "Cool S" or smiley faces to elaborate recreations of characters such as digital pop star Hatsune Miku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z.

"One player jokes, 'Meanwhile on the Battlefield,' asking where the engineers are. Another adds, 'Cut to a flaming tank.'"

Creating detailed images isn't easy. Do time-consuming sketches distract Engineers from assisting their team? Likely yes, but that doesn't stop others from appreciating them. Some players are even leveraging the repair tool's drawing capabilities to discover new ways to play Battlefield 6, including playing games of tic-tac-toe on the battlefield.

"What was really cool," they say, "is that an enemy saw me drawing and decided to let me be," leaving a heart emoticon. "I'm going back in today to try something else. I don't know how many marks remain before they disappear, which is why I stopped adding more hair details, but I'll attempt to go further."

While Engineers leave whimsical drawings for others, some have started sending messages to different classes. Support players have even used the repair tool to request patience from teammates begging to be revived.

Battlefield 6 launched on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, achieving record-breaking success. Since then, the community has discussed potential movement adjustments EA and BF Studios should implement moving forward. Others are hoping to see improvements made to some of the brighter maps in Battlefield 6.
