Capcom's recent trademark application for "Dino Crisis" in Japan has ignited a flurry of excitement among fans. While not a guaranteed release, the public filing strongly hints at Capcom actively exploring the franchise's potential. This trademark secures the groundwork for future projects, possibly including a remake of the beloved dinosaur survival horror series. Originally conceived by Shinji Mikami, the Resident Evil mastermind, the original Dino Crisis roared onto the PlayStation 1 in 1999. Though followed by two sequels, the series went dormant after 2003, leaving a dedicated fanbase yearning for a revival.

This speculation isn't unfounded. Capcom explicitly stated last year its intention to revitalize dormant franchises, a declaration quickly followed by announcements surrounding Okami and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Adding fuel to the fire, a 2024 Capcom fan poll ranked Dino Crisis as the most desired franchise continuation, significantly bolstering hopes for its return.
