The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Aim for Witcher 3 Quality

Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is creating The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality of The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.

A Focused, High-Quality Experience

The Blood of Dawnwalker's Ambitious Goals

In an interview with GamesRadar, creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the game's ambition. While acknowledging the studio's size and the project's scope, he emphasized their commitment to AAA quality, citing The Witcher 3 as their benchmark. He stated, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA... the quality level of The Witcher 3."

Despite being a debut title from a relatively new studio, Rebel Wolves boasts a team of experienced developers with a proven track record on titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The studio's formation allowed for greater creative freedom than working within a larger AAA environment.

Rebel Wolves' Dedication to Quality

Tomaszkiewicz further explained that while the game's content will be more concise than a typical AAA title, the team aims for a 30-40 hour main campaign. He challenged the notion that game length solely defines AAA status, pointing out that shorter AAA games exist. The focus is on delivering a robust, high-quality experience within a more manageable scope.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant granted vampiric powers, who embarks on a quest to save his sister.

Currently, there's no official release date, but the game is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A gameplay reveal is anticipated in Summer 2025.
