The DOOM franchise's adaptability continues to amaze, with recent experiments showcasing its ability to run on unconventional platforms. A tech enthusiast, NyanSatan, successfully executed the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, as NyanSatan revealed, utilizes iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and subsequently running the game, utilizing a MacBook to overcome the adapter's lack of internal memory for firmware transfer.
A forthcoming DOOM iteration, DOOM: The Dark Ages, prioritizes accessibility. Players can adjust demon aggression within the game's settings. This focus on accessibility extends to broader customization options exceeding those found in prior id Software titles.
Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the studio's commitment to accessibility. Players will have extensive control over enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, enemy health, game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing. Furthermore, Stratton confirmed that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its narrative or that of DOOM: Eternal.
