DOOM: New Marauder Revealed in Dark Ages Expansion

by Aaron Mar 12,2025

Agadon the Hunter, a brand-new enemy replacing the Marauder, isn't just a tougher version; he's a completely unique challenge. Borrowing traits from several previous bosses, Agadon dodges, evades, and even deflects projectiles, demanding a far more strategic approach from the Doom Slayer. His diverse combo attacks will necessitate mastering the sawtooth shield, a mechanic reminiscent of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice—a clear inspiration for the developers. The Agadon encounter serves as the ultimate test of skills honed throughout the game, a final, demanding exam.

The decision to retain a challenging boss like the Marauder stems from a belief that players are ready for a significant test. However, the developers acknowledge previous criticisms weren't about the difficulty itself, but rather the abrupt introduction and lack of explanation surrounding the Marauder's mechanics.

The Marauder's reliance on previously unused combat elements contributed to player frustration, disrupting the game's flow. A smoother introduction of mechanics and better player preparation aim to rectify this in Agadon's fight.

DOOM: The Dark Ages launches May 15, 2025, on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) and PC (Steam).
