How Does Dragon Ball Daima’s Finale Explain Goku Never Using Super Saiyan 4 in Super?

The climactic battle in Dragon Ball Daima's finale pits Gomah against Goku, showcasing Goku's newly acquired power. Many anticipated this episode would explain Super Saiyan 4's absence from Super. Let's delve into the finale's explanation.

In episode 19, the Z Fighters revert to their adult forms after Glorio's wish. Vegeta's Super Saiyan 3 form proves insufficient against Gomah, leaving Goku to utilize the power granted by Neva—dubbed "Super Saiyan 4."

This form allows Goku to effectively combat Gomah. His Kamehameha creates a rift through Gomah and the Demon Realm, enabling Piccolo to strike a decisive blow. While Piccolo doesn't deliver the final hit, Majin Kuu does, defeating Gomah and liberating the Demon Realm.

Surprisingly, Dragon Ball Daima doesn't explain Super Saiyan 4 as Demon Realm-exclusive or Neva-specific. Goku attributes his attainment of the form to post-Buu training. The lack of a mind-wipe leaves Daima's canonicity ambiguous.

Canonicity Concerns:

Super Saiyan 4's introduction raises questions about Daima's place within Dragon Ball canon. Goku's failure to utilize this powerful form against Beerus in Super, especially with Earth's fate at stake, is a significant inconsistency. While forgetting is possible, Vegeta's reaction to Goku surpassing him again would be undeniable.

A potential loophole exists in the post-credits scene: the Demon Realm possesses two more Evil Third Eyes. A future season, involving these objects falling into the wrong hands, could provide a retcon, allowing Super Saiyan 4's return and subsequent loss by Goku. However, without such a development, a major plot hole is created.

In essence, Dragon Ball Daima's finale offers a rather weak explanation for Goku's non-use of Super Saiyan 4 in Super. The anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
