Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action title, will notably omit the signature poisonous swamps found in many FromSoftware games. This revelation comes directly from Yasuhiro Kitao, the project's product manager, during a recent press briefing.
While a swamp-like area was featured in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the non-involvement of Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware's president, a known enthusiast of swamp environments in games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki's absence from Nightreign's development accounts for this omission.

Interestingly, a two-player mode remains a possibility. Currently, only solo and three-player modes have been confirmed, with balancing issues cited as the reason for initially excluding a two-player option. FromSoftware is actively considering adding this mode, but a final decision is pending.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, across PC and current and next-generation consoles.
