The Steam release of the enhanced Grand Theft Auto 5 didn't exactly set the world on fire. Many players voiced their disappointment, citing a host of technical problems and difficulties transferring their progress to GTA Online. This widespread frustration is clearly reflected in the overwhelmingly negative Steam reviews, which briefly saw GTA 5 Enhanced holding the ignominious title of Rockstar's lowest-rated game on the platform.
While the rating has since improved slightly (currently at 50.59%), it remains the second-lowest rated Rockstar game on Steam, just above L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files (49.63%). This less-than-stellar reception highlights the significant challenges developers face when releasing updated versions of established titles.
The negative feedback underscores the crucial need for meticulous attention to technical details and seamless player transitions, especially for a game as iconic as Grand Theft Auto 5. Despite the rocky launch, Rockstar is actively working on improvements, but the initial reaction serves as a stark reminder of the high expectations fans hold for their beloved franchises.
