Way of the Hunter: Wild America is coming to mobile devices, bringing its immersive open-world hunting experience to a wider audience. PC players are already familiar with its acclaimed gameplay. Originally released by Nine Rocks Games in August 2022 for PC and consoles, the mobile version is currently in beta testing, developed by HandyGames and THQ Nordic, with a planned release soon.
While some graphical adjustments are expected given the limitations of mobile hardware compared to high-end PCs, the core gameplay and all DLC will be included post-launch. HandyGames has announced a closed beta test (CBT) via a tweet, providing a signup form for interested players on their official X account.
Way of the Hunter challenges players with realistic hunting mechanics, requiring patience and strategic thinking. Animals behave authentically, reacting to the player's actions within expansive open-world environments inspired by the USA and Europe, spanning a massive 55 square miles.
The game features a wide array of realistic hunting weapons, from rifles to bows, and incorporates advanced tracking elements such as blood splatter analysis and animal sign interpretation to aid in trophy acquisition. See the game in action below:
The game's ecosystem is dynamic, with consequences for excessive hunting. Over-hunting in a specific area will cause animals to relocate.Way of the Hunter includes an in-game economy where players can sell harvested meat to purchase better equipment, hunting licenses, and taxidermy trophies for their lodge. Both campaign and co-op modes are available, and the mobile version will offer full controller support.
