Excitement is building for the upcoming *Harry Potter* HBO TV series as the latest round of casting announcements reveal actors set to portray some of the franchise’s most iconic characters. Among the newest additions, fan-favorite Katherine Parkinson, widely recognized for her role in *The IT Crowd*, has been cast as Molly Weasley—the warm-hearted yet fiercely protective matriarch of the Weasley family, previously portrayed by Julie Walters in the original film adaptations.
Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter's longtime Slytherin rival and Hogwarts antagonist, will be played by newcomer Lox Pratt, who steps into one of the most pivotal roles in the series. The character of Lucius Malfoy, Draco’s cunning and manipulative father, will be portrayed by actor Johnny Flynn, known for his expressive performances and charismatic screen presence.
Additional casting news includes a number of fresh faces joining the ensemble as fellow Hogwarts students. Leo Earley will take on the role of Seamus Finnigan, the Irish-born wizard with a knack for explosive magical mishaps. Alessia Leoni will play Parvati Patil, one-half of the inseparable Patil twin duo, while Sienna Moosah is set to portray Lavender Brown, known for her love of Divination and all things mystical.
Earlier today, additional key roles were confirmed, further enriching the show’s expansive universe. Bertie Carvel, best known for his work in *The Crown*, will appear as Cornelius Fudge, the politically savvy Minister of Magic. Meanwhile, Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby have been cast as Petunia and Vernon Dursley—Harry Potter’s dismissive and often antagonistic aunt and uncle.

With production set to begin soon, the core cast continues to take shape. The central trio of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley will be portrayed by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout respectively—marking the beginning of a new era for these beloved characters.
The series already features an impressive lineup of seasoned performers. John Lithgow was the first to be announced as Albus Dumbledore, the wise and enigmatic headmaster of Hogwarts. Janet McTeer will step into the shoes of Minerva McGonagall, the strict but fair Transfiguration professor and Head of Gryffindor House. Paapa Essiedu takes on the complex role of Severus Snape, while Nick Frost brings warmth and humor to Rubeus Hagrid. Luke Thallon portrays the mysterious Professor Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse makes his mark as the ever-vigilant caretaker Argus Filch.
As HBO’s adaptation moves into its next phase, fans can look forward to seeing how this talented ensemble brings the magical world of *Harry Potter* to life in a fresh and compelling way.
