Renowned Windows Central editor Jez Corden has confirmed reports that Microsoft is developing a Gears of War collection. Initial rumors suggested the collection would omit multiplayer, a claim Corden verified. Competitive online play will be absent, but cooperative modes and the main story campaigns will remain.

The official announcement for this Gears of War collection may arrive at the upcoming Xbox Showcase in June. While the specific games included are unconfirmed, speculation points to the first three entries in the series.
Development on Gears of War: E-Day, the next mainline entry, continues using Unreal Engine 5 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Recent leaks hint at a late 2024 release, but Corden believes a 2026 release is more likely.
