Overwatch 2 Reveals New China-Exclusive Events

Overwatch 2's triumphant return to China on February 19th brings a wealth of rewards and exciting events for players. This relaunch includes opportunities to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1-9, participate in popular in-game events, and experience the thrill of newly released heroes.

A technical test, conducted from January 8th to 15th, provided a sneak peek of the upcoming content, including Overwatch: Classic and six heroes previously unavailable to Chinese players.

Game director Aaron Keller's announcement on Xiaohongshu detailed a multi-week celebratory event. Players will be able to acquire Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the official relaunch, with rewards from Seasons 3-9 obtainable through post-launch in-game events.

Season 15: A Chinese Mythology-Inspired Celebration?

Season 15 promises skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While specifics remain undisclosed, the potential for entirely new skins, China-exclusive releases, or a broader thematic integration into the season remains exciting possibilities. This follows the Norse mythology theme of Season 14, hinting at a potentially significant thematic direction.

The anticipation is palpable, as Season 15 commences on February 18th, just before the game's official return to China. Further details are expected in early February.

In the interim, players globally can enjoy the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test (January 21st-February 4th), featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events will also precede Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these events, their own unique celebrations are just around the corner.
