Atlus has finally confirmed what many had speculated for months — a remake of Persona 4 is officially in development. Titled Persona 4 Revival, the game was unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase and is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass.
The reveal came via a short but intriguing trailer, offering a glimpse into the updated visuals and tone of the remake. While gameplay details were scarce, the environments shown appeared significantly enhanced compared to the original release, suggesting a modern visual overhaul that aligns with the high production values fans expect from the Persona series.
Following the announcement, Kazuhisa Wada, director of P-Studio, shared several heartfelt messages regarding the project:
We are very pleased to announce the release of Persona 4 Revival. We look forward to sharing even more information in due time.
Persona 4 has inspired numerous spin-offs over the years, including the TV anime, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. It’s a title that holds a special place in my heart and in the history of Atlus. We are pouring all our passion and love into this project, and we believe it will deliver a fresh and exciting experience for both newcomers and longtime fans alike.
Additionally, we are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio. We are working hard to meet the expectations of fans around the world, and our progress is moving forward steadily. Please stay tuned for more updates.
We look forward to your continued support of the Persona series.
Rumors surrounding a full remake of Persona 4 have circulated for quite some time, especially after a series of suspicious domain registrations and insider leaks. More recently, several original voice actors indicated they wouldn't be returning for an unconfirmed project, sparking a wave of speculation and fan theories.
Critically, the original Persona 4 earned a 9/10 upon release, praised for its deep dungeon-crawling mechanics and engaging social link system. The enhanced port, Persona 4 Golden, has since become the definitive version for modern players, although its absence on Nintendo Switch continues to be a sore spot for many fans.
