Rockstar Games Features Danny Dyer's New Film

by Jonathan Mar 12,2025

If you follow Rockstar Games on X (formerly Twitter), you might have been surprised by their recent post about the film Marching Powder and its star, Danny Dyer. The post, promoting the film's UK and Ireland release, left many wondering about Rockstar's involvement. Let's clear up the mystery.

Who is Danny Dyer?

Daniel John Dyer, or Danny Dyer as he's better known, is a hugely popular East London actor. To those unfamiliar with British culture, he's considered a "legend"—a term signifying someone funny, rebellious, original, and sensitive. Since 1993, Dyer has built a career playing working-class characters, a persona reflected in his outspoken public image. His social media presence is equally vibrant, filled with memorable and often outrageous posts.

How is Danny Dyer Connected to Rockstar?

While seemingly unrelated, Dyer's connection to Rockstar Games stems from The Football Factory, a 2004 British film produced by Rockstar and starring Dyer. This film, directed by Nick Love, shares thematic similarities with Marching Powder, including football hooliganism, heavy drinking, and a distinctly British sense of humor. Marching Powder, a new film also directed by Nick Love and starring Danny Dyer, is the reason for Rockstar's X post; a show of support for their previous collaboration. Rockstar has no direct involvement in Marching Powder.

Is Vice City's Kent Paul Returning for GTA 6?

The short answer is: we don't know. The X post offers no clues regarding GTA 6. However, speculation is fun. Could Kent Paul, Dyer's character in GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, reappear?

It's crucial to remember the distinct universes of the 3D era (GTA III through San Andreas) and the HD era (GTA IV onward). While there's no direct continuity, some elements and characters have appeared across eras (e.g., Grove Street, certain gangs, Lazlo). Intriguingly, Kent Paul has a star on the Vinewood Walk of Fame in GTA 5. Therefore, a return in GTA 6 isn't impossible, but the Marching Powder post doesn't offer any evidence.
