Silent Hill f: A Fusion of Horror Storytelling and Anime-Inspired Music

by Madison Mar 17,2025

Konami's Silent Hill Transmission livestream on March 14th unveiled Silent Hill f, a new chapter in the acclaimed horror franchise. The game's narrative is helmed by Ryukishi07, the celebrated creator of the psychological horror visual novel When They Cry (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni). His renowned skill in suspense and intricate storytelling has already ignited fervent anticipation among fans of both Silent Hill and his previous works.

Further fueling excitement, the game's soundtrack boasts contributions from acclaimed anime composers Dai and Xaki. Their collaboration with Silent Hill veterans Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage promises an unforgettable soundscape, perfectly complementing the game's atmosphere.

Ryukishi07 himself shed light on the decision to include Dai and Xaki, stating that their music has consistently enhanced his past projects. He specifically tasked them with amplifying the emotional impact of certain scenes in Silent Hill f:

These two musicians have always helped make my projects better. For Silent Hill f, I specifically asked them to focus on scenes I wanted to make particularly expressive.

Dai's path to becoming a composer is a unique one. Initially a fan, he wrote to Ryukishi07 criticizing the use of royalty-free music in one of his games. Instead of dismissal, Ryukishi07 challenged Dai to create his own music. Impressed by the results, the team incorporated Dai's work, launching a successful and enduring collaboration.

Silent Hill f is currently under development for PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The fusion of Ryukishi07's gripping narrative and the evocative scores of Dai and Xaki aims to deliver a truly haunting and innovative horror experience.

As fans eagerly await its release, this collaboration of creative talent positions Silent Hill f as a potentially landmark addition to the legendary series.
