World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adding Two New Types of Races

World of Warcraft's Patch 11.1, "Undermined," introduces thrilling new racing experiences: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races. These replace traditional Skyriding races within the new Undermine zone.

Undermine, a vast subterranean Goblin city, prohibits flying. Instead, players navigate using the customizable D.R.I.V.E. vehicle, offering a unique, high-speed alternative to traditional mounts. Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races fully utilize this system, challenging players with speed and precision-based courses.

Complementing the ground-based racing is the introduction of Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering, offering a distinct gameplay experience. While maintaining momentum, players cannot stop mid-air, creating a dynamic challenge. Collecting rings boosts speed, but also reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic complexity.

Key Features:

• No Skyriding in Undermine: The Undermine zone specifically disables traditional flying mounts, promoting the use of D.R.I.V.E. vehicles and jetpacks.
• Two Race Types: Players can enjoy both Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races (ground-based) and Skyrocket races (aerial).
• Achievements: Bronze, Silver, and Gold time achievements are available for each race. Reverse versions of all races exist, but advanced or challenge courses are absent.

Early player reaction to the Skyrocket races has been mixed. Some express excitement, while others find the jetpack controls less responsive than Skyriding. As the patch is still under development, Blizzard has the opportunity to refine the gameplay experience before the February release.
