Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, encouraging players to master the game's mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features a satisfying number of boss encounters.
Gyalva, the formidable Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a significant challenge, requiring a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.
Following the defeat of Guilen, The Fire Eater, players proceed through the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. Strategically positioning yourself at either end of the bridge significantly simplifies this battle.
The fight's limited movement options and the constantly shifting bridge platforms demand careful maneuvering. Players should prioritize quick, damaging attacks using wind magic, maximizing damage output within limited timeframes.
The Ys series consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's finest, and conquering its bosses provides a deeply rewarding experience.
While a remake of Ys 3, Gyalva is a unique addition to this iteration of the story, absent from the original game. Gyalva employs diverse attack strategies; although the fight's core mechanics are straightforward, its high damage output necessitates preparation. Gyalva moves across the bridge, frequently launching sections of it into the air with fiery attacks.
Adequate character progression is crucial. Aim for Adol to reach at least Level 21 before engaging Gyalva, upgrading equipment as needed. Consistent enemy defeat throughout the game will ease this leveling process.
Gyalva utilizes two variations of spinning attacks. The first involves traversing a section of the bridge, sending impacted platforms airborne. The second is a full-bridge traversal, similarly causing platform disruption. Underleveled players risk substantial damage from these attacks.
To counter the first attack, swiftly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, retreat to the bridge's ledges. Avoid the very edge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically move along the bridge, attacking Gyalva before retreating to safety.
Gyalva unleashes fireballs onto the bridge, launching platforms upward. While damaging, this attack creates an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball's movement between them. These bursts inflict damage, and their timing is unpredictable. Wait for the burst to subside before moving through the affected area.
