Story

Botanicula opens with an animated sequence depicting a monstrous spider devouring the elven trees. Five unlikely heroes—Poppy Head, Mr. Feather, Miss Mushroom, Mr. Twig, and Mr. Lantern—embark on a quest to save the last of these trees. Each possesses unique abilities: Poppy Head's strength, Mr. Feather's flight, Miss Mushroom's bounciness, Mr. Twig's gravity-defying walk, and Mr. Lantern's hidden storage. While seemingly simple, these heroes are more a band of misfits, celebrating small victories and fearing larger threats.

Though central, the five warriors primarily interact with bizarre and imaginative creatures to solve puzzles. Engaging with these creatures, even seemingly inconsequentially, reveals their unique lives and adds them to the player's wizard book. The true protagonists are the elven tree inhabitants themselves, reflecting the game's meaning: "All Elves."
