Bandai Namco Remastering Another Tales Game, Likely Xillia

by Sophia Jan 22,2026

Bandai Namco is hinting at another remaster from the Tales series, and all signs point to it being Tales of Xillia.

The tease comes from an upcoming livestream posted on the Tales of YouTube Channel, scheduled to premiere tomorrow at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET. Right now, the stream displays a static image asking: "The Next Tales Of Remastered is...?"

However, as fans on social media have noted, a version of this video was accidentally published on Bandai Namco Europe’s page a few days ago, confirming Tales of Xillia as the remaster. So tomorrow’s early morning livestream appears set to officially reveal it—surprisingly, just hours before Gamescom Opening Night Live later that afternoon.

Tales of Xillia originally launched in 2011 in Japan and 2013 internationally. The story follows two protagonists, Jude and Milla, as they discover a dangerous superweapon and embark on a mission to prevent its misuse. We previously rated it 8/10, making it an excellent choice for a remaster—especially since it has remained a PS3 exclusive and is difficult to revisit today. The game also led to a sequel, Tales of Xillia 2, which was similarly confined to the PS3.

Still, some fans will likely be let down that this isn’t the Tales remaster they were anticipating. Last year, Bandai Namco introduced the Tales of Remastered Program, starting with Tales of Graces f (a Tales of Symphonia remaster had already been released the year before). At the time, we asked producer Yuki Ishikawa about the possibility of a remaster for the fan-favorite Tales of the Abyss—widely considered one of the series’ best entries.

Ishikawa responded, “If [a Tales of the Abyss remaster] were to happen and I could share that excitement with fans, it’s something I would strive for.” Meanwhile, I might be the sole supporter still holding out hope for Zestiria—but I’m willing to wait my turn.
