"Alien: Earth Release Date, Episode Count, and Story Updates Revealed"

by Christian May 29,2025

PlayGet ready to dive into the world of *Alien: Earth*, premiering its first two episodes on **August 12**. Hulu viewers can tune in at **8 PM ET**, while FX and Disney+ international audiences will catch it at **8 PM PT/ET**. Each subsequent episode will roll out every **Tuesday** until the eight-episode season concludes.

Set in 2120, well past the events of Prometheus and just two years before the ill-fated crew of the Nostromo meets their doom, Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth follows the mysterious crash landing of the deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot on Earth. A young woman named Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler) and a group of tactical soldiers uncover a chilling discovery, setting them directly against humanity's gravest threat.

For context, the recently released interquel Alien: Romulus takes place between Alien and Aliens. At this pivotal juncture in the Alien timeline, Earth is dominated by five corporations: Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. Cyborgs and synthetics coexist with humans, yet the game changes when Prodigy's visionary CEO introduces hybrids—humanoid robots infused with human consciousness. Wendy, the first hybrid prototype, symbolizes humanity's quest for immortality.

This storyline teases additional creatures beyond the iconic Xenomorph, with reports suggesting there may be five distinct types.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In 2120, Earth is ruled by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with AI) share the planet with humans. When Prodigy's founder unlocks the technology for hybrids (humanoid robots with human consciousness), the first prototype, Wendy, ushers in a new chapter in the pursuit of immortality. After Weyland-Yutani's spaceship collides with Prodigy City, Wendy and the hybrids encounter lifeforms far more terrifying than anticipated.

Last year, showrunner Noah Hawley revealed his decision to steer clear of the Prometheus backstory, opting instead for the retro-futurism of the original films. Speaking with Alien creator Ridley Scott about numerous elements of the series, including its connection to the prequels, Hawley chose to forge ahead independently.

The Alien universe remains vibrant, with Alien: Romulus 2 in development and another crossover with the Predator franchise, titled Predator: Badlands, on the horizon.
