A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what's in store. The trailer, which was initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account. It depicts the harrowing journey of survivors from a space ship wrecked by a Xenomorph, now hurtling towards Earth.
The trailer provides a striking visual connection to Ridley Scott's original 1979 horror masterpiece. The setting inside a MU/TH/UR control room, reminiscent of the Nostromo's iconic scene where Ripley uncovers the dire circumstances, sets a familiar yet chilling tone. The new Xenomorph design adds a fresh twist while maintaining the series' terrifying essence.
In the trailer, we see a crew member desperately seeking help as the Xenomorph advances. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then shifts to a squad of six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed vessel, hinting at their grim fate.
The trailer raises several intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Did any other crew members make it out alive? Is there anyone left who has been impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers meet their end?
Alien: Earth sets the stage for a mysterious space vessel crashing on Earth, where a young woman (played by Sydney Chandler) and a group of tactical soldiers uncover a terrifying secret that confronts them with the planet's greatest threat.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth falls within the established Alien timeline, positioned just after Prometheus and two years before the events of the original Alien. This placement has led fans to speculate that the series might explore the Nostromo's departure from Earth or how the sinister corporation Weyland-Yutani learned about the Xenomorphs. As a point of reference, the recently released Alien: Romulus is an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.
In January of last year, showrunner Noah Hawley shared insights into his creative choices for Alien: Earth. He explained his decision to steer away from the backstory presented in Prometheus, favoring the "retro-futurism" of the original films. Hawley discussed "many, many elements" with Alien creator Ridley Scott, including connections to the prequels, but opted to focus on the lore from the original movies, distancing from the bioweapon narrative.
Alien: Earth is set to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, Alien: Romulus 2 is currently in development, promising more thrilling adventures in the Alien universe.
