Following Sega’s 2023 acquisition of Rovio, some fans feared the studio might shift focus to Sega’s iconic blue hedgehog. Those concerns have been dispelled with the release of Angry Birds Bounce, Rovio’s first Angry Birds title since the buyout, set to launch on July 3rd.
Two key details stand out: the game is exclusive to Apple Arcade, and it diverges from the traditional Angry Birds formula. Instead of the classic slingshot mechanics, Angry Birds Bounce adopts a brick-breaker style for a fresh take on the beloved franchise.
Despite the new format, Rovio delivers the engaging puzzle gameplay fans expect. In Angry Birds Bounce, players face off against the familiar pig adversaries, launching Red and his crew with their signature abilities. The goal is to master angles and smash bricks with minimal shots.
Feathered Fury
Angry Birds Bounce may stray from the series’ traditional gameplay, but it retains the polished quality Rovio is known for as a seasoned developer.
The catch? It’s exclusive to Apple Arcade. While subscribers will welcome this vibrant addition to the platform, non-subscribers and Android users may be frustrated by their inability to access this promising title.
Still, there’s no need to despair. Alongside Angry Birds Bounce, a slew of exciting new games have hit iOS and Android. Looking for recommendations? Check out our weekly feature highlighting the top five new mobile games to play this week.
