While The New Avengers marked the end of Marvel's Phase 5 theatrical releases, the storyline remains incomplete until Ironheart premieres on Disney+. This series continues the narrative from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), following Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams as she returns to Chicago to develop an advanced suit of armor. Her skills will be put to the test against Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins, better known as the formidable villain The Hood.
Who exactly is The Hood, and why does he pose such a serious threat to this young hero? Below, we explore Marvel's newest antagonist, his supernatural connections, and his growing influence in the MCU. Here's what we cover:

Once a petty criminal struggling to make ends meet, Parker Robbins' life changed forever after a failed heist granted him unimaginable power. After acquiring demonic boots and cloak belonging to a Nisanti demon, he reinvented himself as The Hood—a rising force in New York's criminal underworld.
Now a persistent adversary for the Avengers, Robbins wields his mystical gifts ruthlessly, driven by hunger for dominance despite lacking full mastery of his abilities. His ultimate goal? To establish himself as Marvel's undisputed crime lord.
His ill-gotten power has given him great ambition, even if he doesn't fully understand that power.
Initially powerless, Robbins transformed after stealing mystical relics from a slain Nisanti demon. His cloak and boots grant supernatural abilities including levitation, invisibility, and channeling magical energy through firearms. At times, demonic possession enhances his strength and ferocity.
The Hood strategically recruits powerful allies like Madame Masque and The Wrecking Crew to bolster his criminal empire—assembling resources that even Kingpin would envy.
Though his base abilities seem limited, Robbins continuously seeks greater power sources like Infinity Stones and Asgardian artifacts, escalating his threat level to Avengers-worthy proportions.
First Appearance: The Hood #1 (2002)
Creators: Brian K. Vaughan, Kyle Hotz & Eric Powell
Aliases: Parker Robbins
Current Team: None (formerly The Cabal, Illuminati, Thunderbolts)
Key Stories: The Hood: Saga of Parker Robbins; New Avengers: The Initiative
Created by Brian K. Vaughan and artists Kyle Hotz and Eric Powell, Parker Robbins debuted in 2002 as a desperate family man turned criminal. His fate changed after acquiring demonic relics—drawing him deeper into Marvel's supernatural underworld.

The original miniseries saw Robbins surviving mob conflicts and FBI pursuits, briefly considering reform. However, he ultimately embraced his criminal destiny, later organizing supervillains during the Superhuman Registration Act's chaotic aftermath.
The New Avengers storyline revealed his true benefactor: Dormammu, Marvel's dread sorcerer. Following Secret Invasion, Robbins joined Norman Osborn's Cabal—his ambitions culminating in a near-successful Infinity Gauntlet heist.

Though recently freed from Dormammu's influence, Robbins remains committed to criminal supremacy through relentless scheming and resilience.
Until now, The Hood's screen presence has been limited to games and anime adaptations. His live-action debut arrives via Disney+'s Ironheart series starring Anthony Ramos.
Following Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the series follows Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams returning to Chicago after leaving MIT. As she develops new armor, she faces Robbins' ascendant crime empire.
The Hood serves dual thematic purposes: His grounded criminality mirrors Riri's Chicago roots, while his magic creates a classic science-vs-sorcery dynamic reminiscent of Iron Man's conflicts with The Mandarin.
The trailer hints at Robbins struggling against his cloak's corruption—raising questions about its MCU origin. Will Dormammu remain his patron? Might another entity emerge? Could this Hood evolve into his comics counterpart's Avengers-level menace?
Answers arrive when Ironheart streams on Disney+ starting June 24, 2025. Meanwhile, explore Dominique Thorne's Ironheart journey and stay updated on Marvel's upcoming slate.
