Simplest XP Farm Guide for Minecraft Bedrock

In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, experience points (XP) play a crucial role in enhancing your gameplay, especially for enchanting gear, repairing tools, or combining items using anvils. Creating an XP farm offers an efficient way to gather experience while collecting valuable mob drops. This tutorial explains how to build the simplest XP farm in Minecraft Bedrock, suitable for all players and perfectly viable in survival mode.

Why Build an XP Farm in Minecraft Bedrock?

Experience points are fundamental for many core Minecraft mechanics. You'll need XP for enchanting tools, armor, and weapons at an enchantment table, as well as for repairing and combining enchantments with an anvil. Tools enchanted with Mending automatically repair themselves when you gain XP, making experience farming essential for maintaining your best gear.

An XP farm is invaluable for both new and experienced players. Rather than chasing mobs across the world, an optimized farm delivers them directly to you in a controlled environment. With a proper setup, you can rapidly level up while collecting useful resources like bones, arrows, and rotten flesh.

The Simplest XP Farm: Mob Spawner-Based Design

Among various XP farming methods, mob spawner-based farms offer the easiest construction process in Minecraft Bedrock. Unlike complex farms requiring redstone knowledge, spawner-based XP farms utilize naturally generated dungeon spawners to provide a steady stream of mobs for XP collection.

These spawners typically produce zombies, skeletons, or spiders and can be found in underground dungeons throughout the world. Once located, they become the foundation for an efficient XP harvesting system.

STEP 1: Locate a Dungeon Spawner

Begin by searching for a mob spawner, usually found underground between Y=0 and Y=50 levels. Dungeons are small cobblestone rooms featuring a distinctive spinning mob cage in the center. Explore caves, mineshafts, or ravines to find one - they sometimes appear in strongholds or abandoned mineshafts as well.

STEP 2: Gather Required Materials

Before construction, collect these essential items:

Pickaxe: Iron or better quality for digging
Water Buckets: 2-4 buckets for creating water flows
Building Blocks: Any durable material for structuring
Signs/Slabs: For controlling water and mob movement
Torches: Temporary lighting during construction
Hoppers & Chests: Optional for automatic item collection
Sword: Ideally with Looting III for increased drops

How to Construct an XP Farm?

Follow these building steps:

Preparing the Spawner Room - First, illuminate the dungeon with torches around the spawner to pause mob generation while working. Expand the room to 9×9 blocks with the spawner centered. Ensure 3 blocks clearance above the spawner and 2 blocks depth below the floor to optimize mob movement space.

Creating Water Flows - After clearing the space, dig 1-block deep trenches around the room's perimeter. Place water buckets in corners to create currents that direct mobs toward a central collection point.

At the collection area, construct a 22-block deep drop chute. This ideal height ensures mobs survive the fall with minimal health, allowing one-hit kills. At the chute's bottom, build a 3×3 killing area with slabs positioned to let you attack safely without being reached.

Adding Item Collection - Place hoppers beneath the kill zone connected to chests for automatic item collection. This feature lets you gather XP while automatically storing dropped resources.

Activating the Farm - Remove all torches from the spawner to restart mob generation. Mobs will spawn, get pushed by water into the chute, fall to your kill chamber, and become easy XP sources. With a Looting-enchanted weapon, you'll maximize both experience and resource gains.
