Chinese Streamer Callina Liang Joins 'Street Fighter' as Chun-Li

Legendary Pictures' live-action Street Fighter movie has reportedly cast Callina Liang as fighting game legend Chun-Li.

Deadline confirms the actress has signed on for the female lead role, signaling strong momentum as production progresses toward the March 20, 2026 release date.

Liang launched her acting career in the 2022 series Tell Me Everything before appearing in Foundation (2023). She recently starred in two 2024 films - Steven Soderbergh's Presence and J.C. Lee's Bad Genius.

The Street Fighter adaptation will introduce Liang to wider audiences as she portrays Chun-Li on the big screen. She joins previously announced co-stars including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. Additional casting details for other iconic fighters remain under wraps.

Capcom and Legendary began development in April 2023, initially enlisting Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou. While promising, this creative partnership dissolved in 2024 when the brothers exited due to scheduling conflicts reported by THR.

Despite this setback, Legendary maintained its vision for the film, locking in the Spring 2026 release date in June 2024 while securing new director Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal). The production continues recruiting its cast while maintaining its scheduled timeline.

Details about Liang's portrayal of Chun-Li will emerge as the premiere approaches. Meanwhile, fans can explore the recently released Street Fighter 6, which surpassed 5 million sales earlier this month.
