Square Enix has announced the 30th anniversary of the beloved JRPG, Chrono Trigger. To commemorate this milestone, various projects are planned for release throughout the coming year. While details remain scarce, the announcement hints at possibilities extending beyond the game itself, fueling fan speculation.

Many fans have long awaited a proper remaster or modern console release. Despite its iconic status, Chrono Trigger hasn't received a full remake or a PlayStation release beyond the original PS1 port in 1999. While available on PC and mobile platforms, a definitive modern version remains a highly sought-after goal. Given Square Enix's history of revisiting classic titles, hope remains high.

The immediate celebration centers on a special livestream concert showcasing Chrono Trigger's legendary soundtrack. This concert will air on YouTube on March 14th at 7:00 p.m. PT, running into the early hours of the next morning.

For those unfamiliar, Chrono Trigger is a time-traveling RPG developed by a legendary team including Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest mastermind Yuji Horii, and renowned Dragon Ball artist Akira Toriyama.

Originally released in 1995 for the Super Famicom and SNES, the game follows Crono and his companions as they journey across various eras, from prehistoric times to a dystopian future. Players recruit allies, alter history, and face one of gaming's most iconic final bosses.
