Clair Obscur Studio Announces Official Esquie Plushie, Warns of Scams

by Logan May 15,2025

In the captivating world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, few characters capture hearts quite like Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion. Often seen as the game's mascot, Esquie has not only become a fan favorite but has also sparked a flurry of interest in merchandise, particularly plushies. However, Sandfall Interactive, the game's developer, has issued a warning about the rise of counterfeit Esquie plushies being sold on various suspicious websites.

In a recent post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, Sandfall Interactive highlighted the issue, stating, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed. Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams." This caution comes as a response to the increasing number of "suspicious" websites that have emerged, exploiting the popularity of Esquie.

On a more positive note, Sandfall Interactive is actively working on an official Esquie plushie. The studio expressed its eagerness to bring this beloved character to life in a tangible form, asking fans to remain patient and avoid falling for scams in the meantime. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" they urged.

For those yet to embark on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Esquie is introduced in Act 1 as a giant helper who not only aids in travel but also becomes a cherished companion throughout the journey. His charm and utility in the game draw comparisons to Baymax from Big Hero 6, making the prospect of an Esquie plushie all the more appealing.

A quick Google search reveals both unofficial sites selling Esquie plushies and forums discussing these unauthorized products. Fans eager for an authentic Esquie plushie from Sandfall and Kepler will need to wait a bit longer, as no specific release date has been announced. And while the official plushie's contents remain a mystery, it's unlikely to include wine, unlike its in-game counterpart.

In other news, Sandfall Interactive recently released patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments to Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron praised the game, commending its developers for their "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
