Locating The Tournament

The Tournament quest is initiated by Gyoji in Yamato. After assassinating several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will appear outside their hideout, ready to discuss the tournament. This hidden arena is located at Ominesanji Temple in southeastern Yamato. For easy access, synchronize the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint west of the area to create a fast travel point. This is highly recommended for convenient character switching and quick returns. Speak to Gyoji again at the temple; he'll explain the four one-on-one duels followed by a final showdown with the champion. Ring the bell to begin your first fight.

Completing The Tournament

The Tournament is a series of intense, challenging duels. Thankfully, you can rest between each fight—simply ring the bell to start the next one. Use this time to heal with rations, upgrade your weapons and armor, and strategize.

For optimal success, use a long katana as Yasuke, mastering the dodge and parry mechanics to create enemy vulnerabilities. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when your adrenaline is sufficient. Knowing each opponent's weapon is key to effective counter-strategies.

• Lady Masago: Uses a Naginata.
• Lord Suguru: Uses a Katana.
• Lord Hokuto: Uses a Kanabo.
• Lady O-Sen: Uses two Poison Katanas and throws ranged items.

After the final duel, speak with Gyoji atop the hill. He'll express gratitude and promise future tournaments. The "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock during this conversation.

Optimal Loadout and Skills

The Long Katana is the most effective weapon. Upgrade your highest-rarity Long Katana at your hideout's blacksmith, adding engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing. Your armor choice is crucial.

Before the Tournament, acquire the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend (from defeating The Ox) and Protector's Armor (from completing a Castle). The Samurai Daimyo Armor provides a 75% damage increase but reduces health to 25%; Protector's Armor allows parrying unblockable attacks.
