All Difficulty Settings in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Explained

Mastering *Assassin's Creed Shadows* can be challenging, but thankfully, the game offers customizable difficulty settings to tailor the experience to your skill level. Let's explore the options available to you.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Difficulty Levels Explained

Assassin's Creed Shadows provides four distinct difficulty levels:

  • Story: Designed for a relaxed playthrough, this mode minimizes combat challenges. Enemies react slowly, don't coordinate attacks, making it ideal for players prioritizing narrative over intense combat.

  • Forgiving: A step up from Story mode, Forgiving retains the ease of combat encounters but introduces a slightly more challenging combat experience for Naoe. Enemies still won't gang up, allowing for a more balanced gameplay experience.

  • Normal: This is the default setting, striking a balance between challenge and accessibility. Strategic approaches are necessary, requiring careful planning in combat and utilizing Naoe's stealth abilities effectively. Yasuke will also require tactical considerations when engaging enemies.

  • Expert: Prepare for a significant increase in enemy aggression and damage output. Expert mode demands precise stealth, strategic combat, and consistent gear upgrades for survival.

Difficulty Tuning

While the four pre-set difficulty levels offer a good range, Assassin's Creed Shadows allows for further customization. Access the Gameplay tab within the settings menu and select "Difficulty Tuning." Here, you can independently adjust the difficulty for both combat and stealth, allowing for a personalized experience. For example, you can maintain challenging combat while reducing the difficulty of stealth sections.

Additionally, you can activate "Guaranteed Assassination," enabling Naoe to instantly assassinate any enemy with a single hit. This bypasses the need for upgrading her Assassin Mastery tree for assassinations.

How to Change Difficulty

Adjusting the difficulty is straightforward. Pause the game, navigate to the settings menu, select the Gameplay tab, and modify the difficulty setting as desired. Changes take effect immediately upon returning to the game.
