Nintendo has officially announced that its critically acclaimed Super Mario Odyssey development team is behind the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza for Switch 2. The confirmation came during a preview event attended by IGN ahead of hands-on demonstrations.

A Long-Suspected Connection

While Nintendo remained tight-lipped about Bananza's developers during initial marketing, fans had correctly deduced the Odyssey connection through gameplay similarities and the prominent role of fan-favorite character Pauline.

The original Super Mario Odyssey team featured notable Nintendo veterans like director Kenta Motokura (Super Mario 3D World) and producers Yoshiaki Koizumi (Super Mario Galaxy) and Koichi Hayashida (Super Mario Galaxy 2). Nintendo hasn't specified whether the full original Odyssey team reunited for Bananza.
