Elden Ring Nightreign Scalpers and Scammers Already on the Loose

FromSoftware has begun sending confirmation emails for the highly anticipated Elden Ring Nightreign network test, announced via their Twitter (X) account on January 30, 2025. Excited fans are sharing their confirmations online.

Selected participants will receive a follow-up email on February 11, 2025, containing a unique code to download the test client for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The initial registration period ran from January 10th to 20th, 2025. Unfortunately, FromSoftware hasn't indicated whether additional test opportunities will be available.

The Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test: A Technical Deep Dive

FromSoftware describes the network test as a crucial "preliminary verification" to assess online systems under large-scale load. This will help determine server capacity for the full game's launch. The test runs from February 14th to 16th, 2025, offering five 3-hour sessions:

  • Session 1: February 14th, 3 AM - 6 AM PT
  • Session 2: February 14th, 7 PM - 10 PM PT
  • Session 3: February 15th, 11 AM - 2 PM PT
  • Session 4: February 16th, 3 AM - 6 AM PT
  • Session 5: February 16th, 7 PM - 10 PM PT

Beware of Scammers and Scalpers

Reports of a Steam-based scam targeting Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test participants are circulating. Malicious invites redirect users to phishing sites, compromising accounts and spreading the scam via mass friend requests. FromSoftware emphasizes that official communication only occurs through their website and social media channels.

Adding to the concern, scalpers are already attempting to profit from the limited test access. Despite codes not being released until February 11th, listings for "confirmed" codes are appearing on various online marketplaces, with exorbitant prices ranging from $150 to $200, and some even being auctioned.

Elden Ring Nightreign, initially unveiled at the Game Awards 2024, is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. A precise release date remains unannounced.
