Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles Remasters the Original Classic

Speculation surrounding this project has been building for months. In April 2024, Final Fantasy series director Naoki Yoshida hinted in an interview with The Gamer that it might be time for a new entry in the Tactics series. Shortly after, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier added fuel to the fire when he stated in a Reddit thread in June 2024 that “The Final Fantasy Tactics remaster is real and happening.”

On June 4, 2025, just hours before the State of Play broadcast, Schreier posted cryptic messages on Bluesky regarding Final Fantasy Tactics. When a fan replied expressing excitement for a FF Tactics remake, Schreier corrected them by simply stating “Remaster,” suggesting the nature of the upcoming title.

Meanwhile, fans were also buzzing when Yasumi Matsuno, the original director and writer of Final Fantasy Tactics, briefly retweeted an official post from PlayStation Japan announcing the State of Play event. Though the retweet was quickly deleted, screenshots spread rapidly across social media, further hinting at the game’s reveal.

As anticipation builds, all eyes are now on Square Enix and Sony to deliver more details about what players can expect from this remastered journey through the world of Ivalice.
