Microsoft's next racing title, Forza Horizon 6, has been officially confirmed to take place in Japan with a planned release in 2026.
The reveal arrived via an Instagram post that appeared several hours before the major Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast.
A brief teaser showcased in the post solidifies the game's location and launch window. "The Horizon Festival is coming to Japan," states the caption. "Arriving in 2026. Add it to your wishlist today!" Logos included indicate the game will support Xbox Play Anywhere and, predictably, launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
Although today's announcement appears to have been released slightly ahead of schedule, the news itself is not entirely unexpected. Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft Gaming, had previously verified that a new installment in the Forza franchise would arrive in 2026. Following significant layoffs that reportedly impacted the Forza Motorsport team, it seemed increasingly likely that the project would be a new Forza Horizon game.
Furthermore, dedicated Forza players have long speculated about a Japan setting, especially after a suggestive social media update last month from an automotive import company linked to the series.
