In a surprising moment, Marvel's Deadpool VR world premiere at Summer Game Fest 2025 gave a shout-out to Hollow Knight: Silksong. Find out how Team Cherry reacted and what this means for the highly anticipated game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong, the much-awaited sequel to Team Cherry's acclaimed indie action-platformer Hollow Knight, was a hot topic during Summer Game Fest 2025. Fans eagerly anticipated news after recent shadow drop rumors and a Steam package update in early June. However, the game only came up unexpectedly—during the global premiere of Marvel’s Deadpool VR.
SGF 2025 host Geoff Keighley read a note from Marvel superhero Deadpool that ended with a cheeky line: "Do me a favor and skip that Silksong trailer so you can check out my groundbreaking VR adventure, which will probably blow the industry away."

The Silksong community responded to the Merc with a Mouth with a mix of humor and disappointment over the following days. While some fans shared funny memes about the situation, others took it more seriously, blaming "The Deadpool Incident" for the lack of a Silksong trailer.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s Deadpool VR is confirmed to launch exclusively on Meta Quest 3/3S in late 2025. For a full rundown of announcements and games featured at Summer Game Fest 2025, check out our article linked below.
