NetEase Games has confirmed a robust post-launch content plan for Marvel Rivals, promising a new hero every six weeks. Creative director Guangyun Chen revealed this in an interview with Metro, stating that each three-month season will be divided into two halves, each introducing a new playable character. This consistent influx of new heroes will accompany fresh seasonal stories and maps.
"Every season will bring new seasonal stories, maps, and heroes. We're splitting each season in half," Chen explained. "A season lasts three months, and each half will feature a new hero. Our goal is to continuously enhance the experience and keep our community engaged."
The first season, "Eternal Night Falls," already showcased this plan, launching with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this pace with iconic Marvel characters will be a significant undertaking.
Marvel Rivals boasts a strong initial roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, numerous other Marvel characters are anticipated, with Blade rumored for Season 2 and fan hopes high for Daredevil, Deadpool, and more X-Men. NetEase's commitment to ongoing updates, including balance changes and gameplay adjustments, suggests a continued focus on expanding the game's appeal. The game's current success fuels expectations for further growth and development.
