Mastering Demon’s Hand: A Guide to Playing the Card Game in League of Legends

by Hunter Mar 26,2025

If you're a fan of *League of Legends*, you'll be excited to know that a new minigame, Demon's Hand, has been added to the client, and it's available until the end of April. If you've played *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay mechanics quite familiar. Let's dive into how you can set up and start playing this intriguing card game within *League of Legends*.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To begin your adventure with Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will launch you into the story introduction and then directly into your first round of the card game.

Your gameplay interface includes your hand of cards at the bottom of the screen. In the bottom right corner, you'll see your health, coins, and critical hit chance percentage. Just above that is your Sigil box, which can hold up to six active Sigils at once, though you start with none. Remember, your health doesn't automatically restore after each battle; you'll need to visit tent locations on the map to regain a portion of your health.

The enemy card appears at the top of your screen, with its health and damage values displayed at the bottom right and left, respectively. To the left of the enemy card, you'll find an attack coin indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes back. On the far left of the screen, there's a book icon that lists all possible hands you can play as attacks, along with their standard damage outputs.

In Demon’s Hand, you'll deal damage by playing poker hands, each with unique names but based on traditional poker rankings. Here's a comprehensive list of hands you can play, along with their poker equivalents and base damage:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

The base damage of each hand is augmented by the numerical value of the cards played. However, if an enemy has a special ability that nullifies a particular suit, cards of that suit will be marked as ineffective, and their numerical value won't contribute to the damage total.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils play a crucial role in enhancing your gameplay. You can purchase Sigils during store phases, which are indicated by coins on the map. Coins are earned by defeating enemies, and you can use them to buy Sigils that offer various abilities. Some Sigils boost specific hands, like increasing the damage of Dyads, while others might grant you additional turns before the enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.

That sums up how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, be sure to check out the upcoming April Fools skins for some fun additions to your Summoner’s Rift experience.
