Monster Hunter Wilds Surpasses 8 Million Units Sold in 3 Days and Is the Fastest Capcom Game to Do So

by Brooklyn Mar 17,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved phenomenal success, surpassing eight million units sold within its first three days—a record-breaking feat that makes it Capcom's fastest-selling game ever. This surpasses the five million copies shipped by 2018's Monster Hunter World and the four million of Monster Hunter Rise in 2021.

Capcom's announcement highlights an exceptionally strong launch for Monster Hunter Wilds. This success isn't entirely unexpected, given the game's impressive Steam performance. Over its opening weekend, Monster Hunter Wilds soared past one million concurrent players on Steam, even surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 to become the 7th most-played game on the platform. This surge also propelled Steam to a record-breaking 40 million concurrent players for the first time.

Our Monster Hunter Wilds review praised the game's improvements, stating it "continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."

The Monster Hunter franchise, launched in 2004 on PlayStation 2, continues its reign of success. As of December 31, 2024, Capcom revealed the series has sold over 108 million units worldwide.
