MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale in game development, a case study alongside the infamous Concord failure. Despite its impending closure, the game's final chapter unfolds with the addition of two highly anticipated characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.
This announcement, however, comes against a backdrop of fan frustration, some expressing their disappointment through unacceptable threats directed at the development team. Game director Tony Huynh responded with a heartfelt message, pleading with players to refrain from such behavior.
Huynh offered apologies to fans whose desired characters didn't make it into the game, expressing hope that they'll find enjoyment in the final Season 5 content. He clarified the complex factors influencing character selection, emphasizing his limited control over these decisions, contrary to some fans' perceptions.
Adding fuel to the fire, some players expressed anger over their inability to spend in-game tokens on the newly announced characters, a promised benefit for purchasers of the premium $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalation of threats.
