T.S. Nowlin, celebrated for his work on the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, has joined to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement remains uncertain, he was previously attached to the adaptation.
Adding considerable weight to the project, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also involved in another major video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.
Sifu, released in 2022, achieved remarkable success, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a young kung fu master's quest for revenge after their teacher's murder. Utilizing a mystical pendant that allows resurrection at the cost of accelerated aging, the protagonist faces perilous challenges in a world steeped in danger and mystery.
