The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially launched, and early adopters are already applauding one of its most noticeable improvements: the all-new eShop. Fans have praised the updated digital storefront for its significantly faster performance and the addition of a much-requested feature that enhances the overall shopping experience.
Upon launching the eShop on the Switch 2, users are greeted with the main menu in just a few seconds—marking a dramatic improvement over its predecessor. Navigation is also far more responsive, with sections and product pages loading almost instantly. This overhaul gives the impression of a modernized, well-optimized system rather than an online store built nearly a decade ago.
One of the standout additions to the new eShop is the inclusion of an “On Sale” filter within the Wishlist menu. This feature allows players to quickly identify which games they’ve saved are currently discounted—a practical tool for those tracking multiple titles waiting for a price drop.
Reddit users who already own the Switch 2 have taken to forums to share their experiences, calling the eShop browsing experience “very responsive,” “so zippy,” and even joking that it’s “finally, not a buggy mess.” One user humorously compared the old Switch eShop to the notoriously sluggish PS3 PSN store—an issue now seemingly resolved.

In another positive development, owners have discovered that certain Switch 2-exclusive editions of previously released games—like *Zelda: Breath of the Wild*—are backward compatible with the original Switch. This means players can enjoy the enhanced version on the new console while still playing the same copy on older hardware.
However, not all news surrounding the Switch 2 launch has been favorable. Reports have surfaced regarding damaged consoles caused by retailers stapling through the thin packaging, potentially harming the hardware inside. Additionally, concerns have grown around the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a $10 mini-game collection that many feel should have been free. Completing 100% of the content reportedly requires owning at least $95 worth of accessories, further fueling criticism.
