With Summer Game Fest (SGF) 2025 just one week away, excitement builds around this year's lineup. On May 28, SGF announced via Twitter/X that over 60 partners will participate—including Nintendo's comeback after skipping the previous two events.

Nintendo focused exclusively on its Nintendo Direct presentations during recent years. Their return is particularly noteworthy as they prepare to launch Switch 2, their next-generation handheld console.

While confirmed for SGF, Nintendo likely won't host a full stage presentation. Fans can expect Switch 2 details and possibly game trailers slated for its release.

Xbox Games Showcase Potentially Features Everwild and State of Decay 3

Microsoft's Xbox returns with its annual showcase during SGF weekend. Beyond anticipated reveals like Call of Duty, Gears of War: E-Day, and Outer Wilds 2 (getting its own Direct), two other titles may appear.

State of Decay 3—first announced in 2020—showcased an in-engine cinematic trailer during Xbox's 2024 event, suggesting significant development progress.

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer expressed enthusiasm in February 2025: "State of Decay remains one of my favorite franchises since the original. The team at Double Fine is doing incredible work."

Spencer also referenced Rare's Everwild, describing it as "a magical, natural world offering a unique experience" during his Rare studio visit. He praised its development progress but offered no release timeframe.

Recent comments fuel speculation about both titles appearing at Xbox's showcase—though Microsoft hasn't confirmed specifics.
