Pokémon TCG Pocket Pack Hourglasses Remain Essential for Future Expansions

Recent speculation suggested that the upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion would render Pack Hourglasses obsolete. However, The Pokémon Company has officially confirmed that this is untrue. Pack Hourglasses will continue to reduce booster pack opening delays by one hour per hourglass, regardless of the expansion.

This confirmation is significant, especially considering the game's recent additions, like the Mythical Island booster pack with 68 new cards. The initial Genetic Apex packs contained 226 cards, and some players had already completed their collections before Mythical Island's release. With another expansion anticipated in January 2025, concerns arose about the future utility of these hourglasses.

The Pokémon Company's statement directly addresses these concerns, assuring players that Pack Hourglasses will remain a valuable asset. Rumors of a new in-game currency specifically for expansion hourglasses have been dispelled, at least for the upcoming expansion. Players can therefore continue accumulating Pack Hourglasses to expedite future pack openings.

Pack Hourglasses are obtained through daily challenges and the daily Complimentary Item Set in the shop. They reduce the 12-hour Pack Stamina regeneration period, allowing players to open two booster packs per day, even without hourglasses. The game features various other currencies (Wonder Hourglasses, Shop Tickets, Poke Gold, Pack Points, etc.), but Pack Hourglasses maintain their crucial role in streamlining pack openings.
