Pokémon Vending Machines: A Guide for Trainers

Pokémon fans are buzzing about the appearance of Pokémon vending machines across the US. These aren't your average snack dispensers; they offer a curated selection of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products. Let's explore what these machines offer and how to find one near you.

What are Pokémon Vending Machines?

These automated machines dispense Pokémon merchandise, primarily focusing on the TCG. While initially piloted in Washington in 2017, their success has led to a wider rollout across the US, appearing in various grocery store chains. Unlike older models, these machines feature user-friendly touchscreens, allowing you to browse and purchase items like booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes using a credit card. The experience is enhanced with charming Pokémon animations. Digital receipts are emailed to customers, but returns aren't accepted.

What Do They Sell?

Currently, US Pokémon vending machines predominantly stock Pokémon TCG products, including booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes. While stock varies, it's common to find a mix of current and older releases. Unlike some Pokémon Center machines in Washington, these generally don't sell plushies, apparel, or video games.

Finding a Pokémon Vending Machine

To locate a machine near you, visit the official Pokémon Center website. Their interactive map displays the current locations across several states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin. The website allows you to filter by state to find nearby participating stores, such as Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Frys, Kroger, Pick ‘n Save, Safeway, Smith’s, and Tom Thumb. Note that distribution isn't uniform, with machines often concentrated in specific cities within each state. You can also follow the Pokémon Center's location list for updates on new machine installations.
