Pokémon Go's new season, Tales of Transformation, launches

by Caleb Oct 16,2025

- Season 20, Tales of Transformation, features a special partnership with the mythical Keldeo

- Players worldwide will get rare opportunities to catch typically region-exclusive Pokémon

- Exciting Mega Evolution debuts including Mega Sharpedo, Mega Camerupt and Mega Metagross

Pokémon Go players have plenty to celebrate this week. Following news about the leveling system overhaul, Niantic has revealed details for Season 20: Tales of Transformation. While not related to Ditto as some might expect, this season focuses on Generation V's Keldeo. Whether this excites you likely depends on your feelings about legendary Pokémon.

Personal preferences aside, the season's storyline offers an engaging twist. Throughout the adventure, you'll train your Keldeo to help it achieve its Resolute Form. Unlike the usual routine of quick appraisals and candy conversions, this creates meaningful bonding with your Pokémon.

Beyond the Keldeo storyline, the season celebrates transformative Pokémon generally. Highlights include the debut of Mega Sharpedo, marked by a special Raid Day. Mega Camerupt and Mega Metagross will also have their own Raid Days in September.

Niantic is also paying tribute to some Kanto classics, offering four daily Timed Research quests featuring normally region-locked Pokémon available globally. This rare chance lets players worldwide catch Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, Farfetch'd and Tauros, helping complete Kanto Pokédexes. A special paid Research will also offer encounters with Dynamax versions of the Legendary Birds - Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.

A season of change and celebration

Additional events include the Pokémon Concierge Celebration on September 9th, featuring photobomb opportunities, themed avatar items, special-background Pokémon, and a new Costume Psyduck wearing a swim ring.

The packed schedule continues with Flabébé Community Day on September 14th, followed by the Psychic Spectacular: Taken Over event introducing a new Psychic-type and Shadow Legendary.

Pokémon Go remains available as a free download with optional in-app purchases on both the App Store and Google Play.
