"Rambo Origin Film Announced by Sisu Director"

Get ready for the iconic John Rambo to make a thrilling comeback in an exciting prequel project helmed by Jalmari Helander, the visionary behind Sisu and Big Game. According to Deadline, Millennium Media is actively launching the film, aptly titled John Rambo, at the prestigious Cannes market.

The Cannes market is a pivotal event that coincides with the Cannes Film Festival, serving as a platform for upcoming film projects to attract funding and distribution partners. Millennium Media, renowned for their work on the Expendables and Has Fallen series, previously contributed to the success of 2008’s Rambo and 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood.

While details about the plot of John Rambo are scarce, we know it will be set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, serving as a prequel to the legendary 1982 film First Blood. Casting has yet to be finalized, and although Sylvester Stallone, the original Rambo, is aware of the project, he is not involved at this stage.

The screenplay for John Rambo comes from the talented duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, known for their work on The Mauritanian and Black Adam. Filming is scheduled to kick off in Thailand this October.

While a Rambo prequel might come as a surprise, Helander's recent success with the action-packed 2023 WWII film Sisu—which transformed the concept of John Wick into an elderly Finnish commando battling Nazis during the Lapland War—demonstrates his capability to deliver a gripping cinematic experience.
