Marvel's enduring global popularity, spanning film, television, and video games, is a testament to the groundbreaking work of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko. Sixty years ago, they launched the Marvel Universe, revolutionizing superhero storytelling and forging interconnected narratives across various comic book properties.
Their innovative approach, especially during the Silver Age of Comics, significantly shaped the modern entertainment landscape. To appreciate this impact, I recently embarked on a personal project: rereading every Marvel superhero comic from the 1960s onward.
This article focuses on pivotal early Marvel issues, from the Fantastic Four's 1961 debut to the Avengers' 1963 formation. We'll highlight key character introductions, significant plot developments, and memorable individual comics. This is the first installment in our exploration of essential Marvel comics!
