Where to Find Sam in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (KCD2)

Securing the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* requires completing specific tasks, and rescuing Sam is key. This guide details how to find and save Sam during the "Reckoning" quest.

Rescuing Sam During “Reckoning”

Towards the end of the main questline, you discover Sam is held captive at Praguer's Camp, captured by Brabant. The "Reckoning" quest presents the opportunity to save him. You can infiltrate the camp stealthily or opt for a more direct approach.

To avoid suspicion, acquire a guard's outfit. You can either kill a guard and take his clothes (remember to hide the body!), or locate one in the numerous chests scattered throughout the camp. Once equipped, you can freely explore the camp.

Sam is located in the barn to the left of the camp, beyond the central cooking fire area. Use the ladder on the barn's side to enter and confront Brabant. Here, you face crucial choices: kill or spare Brabant. Sparing him contributes to the best ending, but the decision is ultimately yours.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, don't immediately leave. He informs you of von Aulitz's presence in the camp. It's advisable to deal with von Aulitz first, then find a horse, and finally return for Sam. This order simplifies the process, as you'll need to carry Sam to the horse.

Von Aulitz is in the main camp area. Your guard outfit allows you to enter his quarters without raising alarms. You'll find him near death. You can choose to grant him a dignified death (the most honorable choice), kill him, or leave him to die. Leaving him to die contributes to the best ending.

Finally, retrieve Sam from the barn (a guard may question you; simply claim you're moving a body). Exit the camp, turn right, and circle around to the stables. Choose a horse and escape with Sam, bringing you closer to completing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's main quests.
