The future of *The Wheel of Time* television series appears increasingly uncertain following Amazon Prime Video’s decision to cancel the show after Season 3. Reports indicate that the series is not currently being pitched to other streaming platforms, leaving fans in a state of disappointment and disbelief.
According to reports from Deadline, despite positive internal sentiment toward the show, Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television were unable to align on financial viability for a fourth season. The high production costs reportedly made it difficult to justify continuation, even after Season 3 was praised for improving upon earlier seasons and better aligning with fan expectations.
Brandon Sanderson, who completed Robert Jordan’s original *Wheel of Time* book series, shared his thoughts on the cancellation via comments on one of his YouTube videos. He expressed disappointment—not only for himself but also for the dedicated fanbase that had grown more satisfied with each season.
"I wasn't really involved," Sanderson stated. "Don’t know anything more than what is public. They told me they were renegotiating, and thought it would work out. Then I heard nothing for two months. Then learned this from the news like everyone else."
He continued, “I do think it's a shame, as while I had my problems with the show, it had a fanbase who deserved better than a cancellation after the best season. I won’t miss being largely ignored; they wanted my name on it for legitimacy, but not to involve me in any meaningful way.”
TVLine has reported, citing well-placed sources, that *The Wheel of Time* is not currently being shopped to other networks or streaming services. This revelation has dimmed hopes among fans who believed another platform might step in to continue the story.
An online petition urging studios to "Save *The Wheel of Time*" has gained over 120,000 signatures, with supporters pleading for the story to be completed. However, given the current landscape, such efforts may not be enough to revive the series.
Some fans have speculated that Apple TV+, which has invested heavily in high-budget fantasy and sci-fi content like *See* and *Silo*, could potentially pick up the show. However, with an already packed development slate, this remains unlikely at best.
As things stand, *The Wheel of Time* adaptation seems to have reached its final chapter—cut short before the full story could be told. For many fans of the iconic book series, this marks yet another missed opportunity to bring one of fantasy literature’s most celebrated works to life on screen in a complete and satisfying way.
